Museum Opening and Canton Culture Week

Kick off the Canton Acts of Culture Week 2016 with the reopening of the Canton Historical Museum! We are opening for the season today, Saturday, April 30!

Over the last 30 years, Canton has shifted from a primarily agricultural town to a place filled with new homes and businesses. But how well do you know your neighbor? We all come from different cultural and religious backgrounds, and too often don’t recognize the great diversity that surrounds us.

Visiting the museum this summer will introduce you to some of the cultures that have come to grow in Canton. Facts and objects from Brazil (Bahia), Palestine, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and the Muslim community take center stage to help preserve Canton’s “recent history.”

The exhibit runs until July 30, 2016. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

Looking for Volunteers

Happy spring! We've recently reached out via the Canton Focus newsletter and the Canton Observer newspaper to locate more volunteers for our organization.

We encourage prospective volunteers to email or call us (734-397-0088) and to attend our monthly board meetings, which are open to the public. Tonight's board meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Canton Twp Municipal Services building (1150 S. Canton Center Rd., Canton, MI 48188). Board meetings are a great opportunity to meet the CHS volunteers in-person and discuss the issues that are most important to you.
