Our Collections

Collections include genealogical materials, pictures, historical documents, Civil War pension records, and/or military records, and township tax records, historic artifact i.e. clothing, kitchen items etc. The Historical Society barn located at the Bartlett/Travis House contains historic farm equipment. Call the museum 734-397-0088 to schedule a tour.

Artifacts

Objects that represent the material culture of Canton's residents are on display in the Museum. Exhibits change throughout the year to highlight a specific theme. Items from the following collections are used in the exhibits: clothing, jewelry, personal care, books, tools, toys, furniture/furnishings, kitchen goods, and textiles.

Farming-related equipment is housed in the Canton Historical Society Barn on the grounds of the Bartlett-Travis House. This agricultural exhibition is on display on selected days from June through September.

Archives

The Museum includes a separate archive section for the hundreds of photographs and documents that have been collected. Archived material such as photographs, documents, notes, and newspaper articles can be retrieved under the following headings.
