About the Society

In 1975, a small group of Canton residents began meeting with the intent to form a Historical Society. The Society would collect, preserve, and share information about the history of Canton Township. Within two years, the Society had been formally established, and had begun its first major project, the acquisition and renovation of the Canton Center School as a museum.

After the Museum became a reality in 1982, the Society took on other projects such as several publications about Canton's families and one room schools.
