Adopt a Soldier
Canton Historical Society has established an "Adopt a Civil War Soldier Project." The Society has identified over eighty soldiers who lived in Canton before, during, or after the war, or are buried in Canton. We are currently trying to obtain the entire pension records of these soldiers and the military records of those who did not receive pensions. The cost to obtain the entire file is $37 each. This is an important project to obtain and preserve the records of early settlers in our community.
